BUENOS AIRES, November 20. /TASS/. The second round of presidential election in Argentina is over with voter turnout of 76%.

No serious incidents have been reported during the voting day.

Minister of Economy Serjio Massa from the Union for the Homeland party and lawmaker Javier Milei from the Freedom Advances party compete for the top office. The results are expected to be published after 9pm local time. The president-elect will assume office on December 10.

Meanwhile, teams of both candidates believe that they have won in the second round, pointing to their own statics, according to TN.

Milei advocates the minimal state interference, intends to dismiss the Central Bank and proposes to replace the national currency with the dollar. The candidate, who picked a chainsaw as his campaign symbol, intends to significantly cut budget spending in order to resolve the economic issues. Milei has repeatedly stated that he has no intention to promote international relations with Brazil, China and Russia over his disagreement with these states’ policies, but also said that he will not prevent business from working with these countries.

Massa promises to concentrate on creation of jobs and development of national industry and oil sector. The candidate pays special attention to stimulating exports, which he plans to use to increase the foreign currency influx and to resolve the reserve shortage and inflation issues. Massa’s foreign policy advisor Gustavo Pandiani said that Argentina should develop relations with the whole world, and it would be a big mistake to reject the accession to the BRICS, where Argentina was admitted to after the August summit.
