Almost 200 people killed in Israeli strike on school in Gaza – TV
The educational institution is under the control of the UN Agency for Relief and Work for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, Al Jazeera noted
CAIRO, November 18. /TASS/. About 200 people have been killed in an Israeli strike on the Al-Fakhoora school in Jabalia in northern Gaza Strip, the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera reported.
The bombed school has been controlled by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Numerous civilians, who were forced to flee their homes fearing Israeli bombardments, sought shelter at the school.
Tensions flared up in the Middle East after Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israeli territory on October 7. Hamas views its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ steps against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
