CAIRO, November 17. /TASS/. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has called on supporters of the Palestinian Hamas movement to hand over hostages held by it in the Gaza Strip to representatives of the Red Cross.

"We call on Hamas to release the hostages and hand them over to the Red Cross," the Al Hadath TV channel quoted Borrell as saying during a visit to the West Bank city of Ramallah.

According to the top EU diplomat, "the Palestinian Authority must return to the Gaza Strip with the more active participation of Arab and European countries." He also advocated the need to "mobilize international support" for the principle of "two states for two peoples.".
