Zelensky says Ukraine built fleet of sea drones in Black Sea
On November 14, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fyodorov said Ukraine had started mass production of uncrewed surface boats
MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Kiev has created a fleet of sea drones, which is already operating in the Black Sea.
"For the first time in history, a fleet of sea drones, a Ukrainian fleet, has started operating in the Black Sea," he said in a video address to a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
In late August, the Ukrainian news outlet Defense Express reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had set up a separate brigade to operate kamikaze sea drones. In September, Zelensky said that the country was building a fleet of sea drones. On November 14, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fyodorov said Ukraine had started mass production of uncrewed surface boats. He did not provide any data about how many such drones had been produced or were being manufactured.
The Russian Defense Ministry regularly issues reports about destroying Ukrainian uncrewed boats in the Black Sea and about striking the sites where these drones are stored or produced.
