Doctor at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza says 36 newborns in need of help – report
According to NBC, the Israeli military is working on creating portable incubators, but they will still need electricity, which the medical facility does not currently have
NEW YORK, November 14. /TASS/. Medical help is required for 36 babies at the Al-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip, NBC reported, citing a doctor.
The babies are alive, the doctor said, but they require neonatal help. The Israeli military are working to build portable incubators but the hospital has no electricity to power the devices, he said. The doctor insists the newborns need to be evacuated, saying the Israel Defense Forces didn’t allow it.
The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. Hamas has cast the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and has started delivering strikes on that area and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday said Hamas lost control over Gaza.
