Pakistani prime minister suggests starting criminal proceedings against Israel at UN court

ISLAMABAD, November 13. /TASS/. Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has suggested exploring the possibility of initiating proceedings at the UN International Court of Justice against Israel.

He made the statement at the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh, the Pakistani newspaper Frontier Post reported.

The prime minister said Israel’s incessant flouting of international laws with impunity had few parallel in history, according to the report.

"I condemn these atrocities in the strongest terms," he was quoted as saying.

According to the prime minister, the international community must hold the Israeli leadership accountable for its crimes against the people of Palestine. He suggested initiating a case on the subject at the UN International Court of Justice.

Kakar called on UN Security Council members to rise above their differences and urgently perform their primary responsibility of maintaining peace and security in the region.

"Human lives cannot be sacrificed at the altar of technicalities," he was quoted as saying.

The Pakistani prime minister also held meetings with the Saudi crown prince, crown prince of Kuwait and Malaysian prime minister on the sidelines of the summit.
