Israel sets no caps on those crossing border via Rafah checkpoint — ambassador in Moscow

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Israel agrees lists of those crossing the border through the Rafah checkpoint, but it sets no daily caps or quotes on the number of people who use can use it, Israel’s ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi has told the media.

"We consider the lists one by one. Some submitted them earlier, and others later. It doesn't matter. There are lists, but we do not decide how many people pass through this checkpoint. It is not our decision. The Egyptians let through 600-650 per day," Ben Zvi said.

Earlier, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that 98 Russian citizens crossed the Rafah checkpoint on Monday.

The work for evacuation from the Gaza Strip of Russian citizens trapped in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is organized by the Russian Emergencies Ministry together with Russian diplomats. Last Sunday, the first group of Russian citizens crossed the Rafah checkpoint into Egyptian territory. A total of 168 Russian citizens crossed the checkpoint over two days. The Russian Emergencies Ministry staff met them and provided with medical and psychological assistance.
