BEIJING, November 9. /TASS/. Cooperation between the armed forces of Russia and China illustrates the high level of bilateral relations and their special nature, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission Zhang Youxia said during Wednesday’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Relations between the military of the two countries are an important symbol reflecting the high level of relations between our countries and the special nature of these ties," the People's Liberation Army Daily (Jiefangjun Bao) quoted the official as saying in its Thursday’s publication.
In his opinion, relations between the Russian and Chinese militaries demonstrated "a powerful development dynamics," with "numerous positive factors observed in every area of cooperation."
Zhang Youxia arrived in Russia on November 8. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said during talks with the Chinese official that relations between Moscow and Beijing were a model of strategic interaction based on trust and respect. He noted that the two countries are not forming a military bloc. Zhang Youxia, for his part, said that China-Russia relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction have reached a level never-before-seen in this era.
On September 30, Zhang Youxia and Shoigu met on the sidelines of the 10th Xiangshan Security Forum in Beijing. At that time, the Chinese defense official said that the country was ready to actively respond to various security threats and challenges together with Russia, and jointly maintain global strategic balance and stability.
