EU on wrong side of history in Israeli-Palestinian crisis – Turkish Foreign Ministry
The department called criticism of Ankara's position regarding the conflict in the Middle East positive
ANKARA, November 8. /TASS/. The European Union has taken the wrong side in the latest round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement, following the 2023 Enlargement Package published by the European Commission, which includes the negotiation process on Turkey’s EU membership.
"We view the criticism in the report saying that our country’s stance on the war between Hamas and Israel is in complete disagreement with the EU approach as a positive. We deem it necessary to remind the European Union, which, in the historical sense, has taken the wrong side in the face of the civil massacre that has spilled over from the murky Middle Ages into the 21st century, that politics based on universal human values, international law and humanitarian principles, should cover not only Ukraine or some other European region, but the entire world, including the Middle East," the statement said.
