TEL AVIV, November 8. /TASS/. Another 96 trucks with humanitarian aid entered Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing on Tuesday, Israel’s agency coordinating government activities in the Palestinian territories (COGAT) said.

"Ninety-six trucks carrying international humanitarian aid were transferred to Gaza via the Rafah crossing," the agency said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

According to COGAT, 15 trucks delivered medical supplies, 31 trucks were carrying food, eight were carrying water, 19 delivered supplies for shelters and another 23 were loaded with mixed goods.

A World Health Organization (WHO) official earlier told Al Jazeera that the Gaza Strip needed 500 trucks of humanitarian aid every day.

Tensions in the Middle East flared up again on October 7 after militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of border communities and taking people, including women, children and the elderly, hostage. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza and launched ground operations in the enclave, also carrying out air strikes on targets in the Strip, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
