As many as 1,400 foreigners evacuated to Egypt from Gaza — Al-Youm as-Sabia news portal
In addition, on November 6, 29 Palestinians were brought to the Rafah crossing to be then transferred to Egyptian hospitals for treatment
CAIRO, November 7. /TASS/. A total of 1,400 foreign nationals have been evacuated to date from the embattled Gaza Strip to Egypt via the Rafah border crossing, the Egypt-based Al-Youm as-Sabia news portal said.
According to the media outlet, "329 people with foreign citizenship arrived in Egypt from Gaza" on Monday. "As of now, 1,400 people holding citizenship of 60 Arab and other foreign countries have been received by Egypt [from the Gaza Strip]," it said.
In addition, on November 6, 29 Palestinians were brought to the Rafah crossing to be then transferred to Egyptian hospitals for treatment, it added. Among them are "eight wounded, nine cancer patients and 12 persons accompanying them," the news portal specified. They were taken to hospitals in the cities of Sheikh Zuweid and El Arish in the Sinai Peninsula. According to Al-Youm as-Sabia, "100 wounded and seriously ill Palestinians transported from the Gaza Strip" are currently being treated in these hospitals, as well as in medical facilities in the Egyptian cities of Ismailia, Port Said and Cairo.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from Gaza. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and has been delivering airstrikes on Gaza as well as some districts in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
