Minsk reports 5 incidents with Polish aircraft on border since early September
On November 2, 2023, a single-engine Polish plane on a patrolling mission crossed into Belarus to a depth of up to 200 meters several times
MINSK, November 3. /TASS/. Belarus has reported five violations of its airspace by Polish aircraft since early September, Valery Revenko, chief of the Belarusian defense ministry’s international military cooperation department, said on Friday.
"On November 2, 2023, a single-engine Polish plane on a patrolling mission crossed into Belarus to a depth of up to 200 meters several times. Since early September, Poland has committed five such infractions which can be characterized as ‘coming to the brink,’" he wrote on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
Earlier, Polish Charge d’Affaires in Belarus Martin Wojciechowski was summoned to the Belarusian foreign ministry, which expressed its dissatisfaction over the November 2 incident. Minsk demanded that Warsaw conduct a thorough investigation and take measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The ministry also stressed that negligence was no excuse for flying in the border area.
Minsk expressed a similar protest to Warsaw on September 28 after a Polish helicopter twice crossed into Belarusian territory.
Commenting on the September 1 border violation by a Polish helicopter, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said that Minsk did not consider it a provocative action but rather the result of the incompetence of Polish pilots.
