US journalist Tucker Carlson visits Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in prison

NEW YORK, November 2. /TASS/. American TV host Tucker Carlson has visited Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in prison, the journalist said on X (formerly Twitter).
"Visiting Julian Assange at Belmarsh Prison this morning," he wrote.
The Wikileaks founder was put in London’s Belmarsh Prison after being expelled from the Ecuadorian Embassy in the British capital in April 2019. Washington has been seeking to extradite him to the US for over four years, but Assange’s defense team keeps trying to prevent this. Assange’s wife said earlier that her husband would make a last-ditch effort to block his extradition to the US through a British court.
In the United States, Assange is facing criminal charges for his role in the biggest leak of classified information in US history. The charges carry a potential sentence of 175 years in prison. In November 2022, leading Western media outlets, including the newspapers The New York Times, The Guardian, The Times, Le Monde and El Pais, called on the US government to drop the charges against the Wikileaks founder.
