CAIRO, October 30. /TASS/. A convoy of 60 trucks carrying humanitarian aid for people in the Gaza Strip have entered the enclave through the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt, Al-Qahera al-Ekhbariya television reported.

According to report, a total of 47 vehicles carried large quantities of medicines and medical supplies across Rafah for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society the day before.

Rafah is used to supply humanitarian aid to the southern parts of the otherwise sieged Gaza Strip. The aid mainly consists of medicines and medical supplies, along with food, water, tents and personal hygiene products. No fuel is being sent to the Strip. A total of about 100 trucks carrying humanitarian aid have entered the enclave through Rafah since October 12. According to Al-Qahera al-Ekhbariya, half of those supplies was delivered directly to the Gaza Strip.

Last week, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit told the UN Security Council that the Palestinians hoped that 100 truckloads of humanitarian aid will enter the Gaza Strip every day. He said the aid trucks currently being sent through the Rafah crossing are "only a drop in the ocean" of what Gazans currently need.
