It is also pointed out that members of the Palestinian Authority, as well as representatives of several Arab countries are "secretly calling on the West to eliminate Hamas"

CAIRO, October 30. /TASS/. The Palestinian radical movement Hamas is disappointed with the limited support it receives from Arab countries and ideologically interested parties, Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk told the Al Jazeera TV channel.

"We had high hopes for Hezbollah and our colleagues in the West Bank, but we are alarmed by the disappointing attitude of our colleagues in the Palestinian Authority," he said. The official also pointed out that members of the Palestinian Authority, as well as representatives of several Arab countries are "secretly calling on the West to eliminate Hamas."

Last week, a Hamas delegation led by Abu Marzouk visited Moscow, where the two sides discussed a ceasefire between Palestine and Israel during a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov. The Hamas official emphasized that the movement highly appreciates Russia's position on the Middle East conflict and the efforts of Russian diplomacy to resolve it.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking hostages, including children, women and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
