TEL AVIV, October 30. /TASS/. Syria's military targets were attacked by Israel's Defense Forces, according to the army press service.
"An Israeli Defense Forces aircraft struck military infrastructure on Syrian territory <...> in response to [missile] launches from Syria targeting Israel on Sunday," the statement said.
The situation in the Middle East deteriorated sharply following the infiltration of Hamas militants from Gaza into Israel on October 7, which was accompanied by the killing of residents of Israeli border villages and the capture of more than 200 hostages, including children, women, and the elderly. According to Hamas, the attack is in response to Israeli actions against Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel declared a total blockade of Gaza and began retaliating against the territory as well as certain areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes occur in the West Bank as well.
According to the most recent data, over 1,400 Israelis were killed in the conflict, and over 5,200 were injured. According to the enclave's Ministry of Health, more than 7,000 Palestinians were killed and nearly 18,500 were injured as a result of Israeli strikes on Gaza.
