UN needs to be reformed to prevent World War Three — US expert
"The functioning of the one imperfect international body - the UN - must be transformed over the next days and weeks, and that’s what we are hoping to see," a representative of the Schiller Institute at the United Nations in New York Richard Black said
MINSK, October 27. /TASS/. Creating a ‘new majority’ at the United Nations, bringing together major non-represented countries, will allow to improve the UN functioning and prevent World War Three, a representative of the Schiller Institute at the United Nations in New York Richard Black has told TASS.
"Foreign Minister Lavrov of Russia is correct in calling it a new majority, a new majority of gigantic nations like Indonesia, like Brazil, like South Africa, like India," the US expert said, commenting on the current global situation on the sidelines of an international conference in the Belarusian capital of Minsk.
In his opinion, numerous think-tanks in Washington and London are still practicing imperialistic approaches to the rest of the world and view united Eurasia as a threat to the global dominance of the US.
"The name of peace, the substance of peace is economic development. No political treaty will last, no agreement will hold unless there is mutual economic development among various nations," he said.
Making UN functional again
In his words, US diplomats are now "speaking to leading diplomats at the UN, saying ‘you must upshift the quality, upshift what the UN is capable of doing.’"
"This new majority must come to sway at the UN and hold what Israel is about to do," he said, adding that otherwise the world is "looking down the throat of a nuclear war."
"The functioning of the one imperfect international body - the UN - must be transformed over the next days and weeks, and that’s what we are hoping to see," the US expert added.
Kinzhal missiles and US carriers
Black reiterated that the United States had deployed two aircraft carrier groups in the Mediterranean Sea. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin had tasked the Russian Aerospace Forces with carrying out regular patrols of Russia’s Mig-31 aircraft armed with hypersonic Kinzhal Missiels in the Black Sea airspace.
"These Kinzhal missiles can sink American aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean. That’s World War Three," the US expert added.
