BEIRUT, October 25. /TASS/. The armed wing of the Shiite Hezbollah party attacked five positions of the Israeli army in the border areas of southern Lebanon, the Al Manar TV channel reported.
According to a communique broadcast by the channel, the Shiite fighters attacked, among other things, the barracks of soldiers of the northern military district in the settlements of Pranit and Shtula, as well as command and observation posts in Khirbet Menara, Jel al-Alam and al-Abad.
Israeli artillery fired rockets in retaliation. The Lebanese settlements of Rmeish, Hula, Mirwahin, Roumieh and Meiss Ej Jabal came under fire. According to the communique, the enemy used phosphorus munitions, resulting in the burning of orchards and olive groves belonging to local farmers.
The channel pointed out that earlier, the Israeli Air Force raided Hezbollah's military infrastructure in Halta and Kfarchouba, at least three fighters were killed while repelling these attacks. Thus, according to the Al Hadath TV channel, since the beginning of the escalation of hostilities on the Lebanese-Israeli border, the losses of the Shiite militia amounted to about 40 people.
