Iranian Foreign Minister asks Lavrov to prevent adoption of anti-Palestinian UN resolution

DUBAI, October 24. /TASS/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that he turned to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov with a request to prevent the adoption of a resolution in the UN Security Council that contradicts the interests of Palestine.
"All efforts should be aimed at preventing the adoption of a resolution that is contrary to the interests of Palestine. Today I spoke about this with Mr. Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and has the right of veto," he said at the press conference following the "3+3" meeting.
On October 22, the United States presented to the UN Security Council its draft resolution on the Middle East situation. According to the text of the document seen by TASS, the American draft resolution does not call for a ceasefire. It includes paragraphs condemning the Hamas attack, calling for the hostages' release, and recognizing Israel's right to self-defense.
