Israel army strikes tunnel beneath mosque in West Bank’s Jenin

TEL AVIV, October 22. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) delievered a preventive strike on a tunnel stretching beneath a mosque in the West Bank’s Jenin, the IDF’s press office announced on Sunday.
According to the IDF, the tunnel was used by militants of Palestinian radical movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad, who plotted an attack.
The IDF stated that "In a joint Israel Defense Forces and General Security Services operation, the Israel Defense Forces carried out an airstrike targeting an underground terrorist facility located on the territory of the Al-Ansar Mosque in Jenin."
The mosque accommodated terrorist cells of "Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which were planning to carry out a terrorist attack imminent terrorist attack."
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the radical Palestinian movement Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip.
