Israeli security forces detain over 80 people in overnight raids in West Bank
There are 63 participants in Hamas’ terrorist operations among the suspects, the Israeli army said
TEL AVIV, October 19. /TASS/. Israeli security forces detained over 80 terror suspects in overnight raids in the West Bank, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
According to the IDF, large-scale counter-terrorism activities were conducted in the West Bank last night.
The Israeli army said that 63 people suspected of being involved in Hamas’ terrorist operations were among those detained.
"As a result of large-scale counter-terrorism measures carried out overnight in Judea and Samaria (the Israeli designation for the West Bank - TASS) more than 80 suspects were detained, including 63 participants of Hamas terrorist operations," the statement reads.
Moreover, a large number of weapons were seized during the raids, the army added.
Furthermore, during the night, Israeli forces conducted a demolition operation on the house of a radical involved in an armed attack near the Israeli settlement of Kedumim in the West Bank in July this year, which resulted in the death of an Israeli soldier. The demolition of the building was accompanied by violent riots, with security forces using riot gear to disperse crowds, the press service said.
A total of 524 people have been detained in the West Bank since October 7, when Hamas supporters infiltrated into Israeli territory en masse, causing significant Israeli casualties. More than 330 of them are accused of having ties to Hamas, the army informed.
