DUBAI, September 25. /TASS/. Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Afghanistan's interim government formed by the radical Taliban (outlawed in Russia) is heading to Moscow, Deputy Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad said.

"Today a delegation led by Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi left for Moscow at Russia’s official invitation," a Foreign Ministry spokesman wrote on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter). "The delegation will attend the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan."

Kabul News TV channel reports that Muttaqi will stay in Moscow for two days and then he will go to Kazan.

The Moscow format meeting will be held on September 29 in Kazan. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the meeting will focus on the situation in Afghanistan, issues of inter-Afghan reconciliation, regional security and post-conflict reconstruction of the country. According to Zakharova, the parties are expected to adopt a joint statement following the event.

The Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan brings together Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The previous meeting was held last November.
