YEREVAN, September 25. /TASS/. The situation in downtown Yerevan is relatively calm, with no traffic jams or blocked streets, a TASS correspondent reports.

Since early morning, the national committee charged with coordinating response measures to acts of civil disobedience has been publishing videos and information on its Telegram channel about blocked transport arteries in the Armenian capital. Some videos depict the police using force while detaining protesters.

According to a TASS correspondent, well-known journalist Davit Sargsyan, who was formerly head of Yerevan State University’s student council, was detained at the university. A faculty member was also arrested.

"As of now, more than 200 people have been detained by the police. Opposition members of parliament and attorneys are engaged in defending their rights," Ishkhan Saghatelyan, one of the leaders of the protest movement, said.

"As of 12:00 p.m. (11:00 a.m. Moscow time - TASS), the number of detainees has reached 168," the press service of the Armenian Interior Ministry told a TASS correspondent.
