PREVIEW: BRICS Media Forum kicking off in Johannesburg
The key subject of the forum is ‘BRICS and Africa: Strengthening of Media Dialogue for Common and Fair Future’
JOHANNESBURG /RSA/, August 19. /TASS/. BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Media Forum is opening in Johannesburg in the run-up to the organization's summit that will be held on August 22-24. The forum serving as a platform for the dialogue between leading media outlets of BRICS member states is being held for the sixth time. TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov participates in it.
The key subject of the forum is ‘BRICS and Africa: Strengthening of Media Dialogue for Common and Fair Future’. Three blocks of issues are highlighted: ‘Protecting Justice: Role of Media in Formation of New World Order’, ‘Fortifying Exchanges: Role of Media in Encouraging Economic Growth of Africa’, ‘Facilitating Innovations: Responsibility of Media to Facilitate Environmental Development’. It is expected that a plan of action will be adopted after the meetings for strengthening partnership between leading media of BRICS nations.
BRICS Media Forum was established in 2015 at the initiative of China’s Xinhua agency. This year the meeting is held in the Republic of South Africa (RSA) that is chairing BRICS.
