BEIRUT, July 31. /TASS/. Western States make attempts to complicate the repatriation of Syrian refugees, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said during the joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

"Western states seek tom complicate the issue of repatriation [of refugees], urging them not to return to their country, because it lacks appropriate conditions," the minister pointed out during the press conference, aired by Syria’s Al Ikhbaria.

According to Mekdad, the US simultaneously imposes suffocating sanctions on Syria and exports oil, extracted in the republic, thus preventing Syria’s development.

In early July, Syrian President Bashar Assad said during his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi that the Syrian government takes all necessary measures in order to establish conditions for repatriation of refugees to their homes. The head of state noted that it is necessary to reject the politicization of this issue, adding that this issue "is humanitarian and moral in nature.".
