Failed drone attack on Kremlin by no means promotes peace settlement — Italian MFA
Antonio Tajani noted the impermissibility of further escalation and stressed that the strengthening "grain corridors" and measures "to ensure the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant" were crucial steps toward reconciliation, which both the Vatican and China might help achieve
ROME, May 4. /TASS/. Any military action, including attempted drone strikes against the Kremlin, does not serve a peace settlement in Ukraine, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani told the media on the sidelines of The State of the Union conference in Florence. His conversation with the media was broadcast by Rai News 24.
"All attacks are harmful [to peace], but we don't know all the details of what happened," Tajani said when asked about his opinion of the incident. He stressed the need to achieve a ceasefire and peace.
"Peace must be in Ukraine's interests. Peace means Ukraine's independence," he stressed.
Tajani noted the impermissibility of further escalation and stressed that the strengthening "grain corridors" and measures "to ensure the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant" were crucial steps toward reconciliation, which both the Vatican and China might help achieve.
On May 3, Ukraine attempted to use two drones for a night-time strike on the Kremlin residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidential press service said. The military and special services promptly disabled the enemy vehicles. Putin was not harmed and continued to work as usual. The Kremlin said the attack was a pre-planned act of terrorism and an attempt on the life of the head of state. Moscow reserves the right to retaliate in a suitable way and when it deems appropriate.
