MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron has signed a law on pension reform, the document was published on Saturday in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
"The Social Security Code is thus amended. <...> In the first paragraph, 'sixty-two' is replaced by 'sixty-four,'" the document reads.
This came after France's Constitutional Council on Friday found the pension reform partially legal and approved a key article raising the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64.
The draft pension reform, which raises France's retirement age from 62 to 64 and abolishes several special pension regimes, was presented in January. The initiative sparked demonstrations and strikes across the country. On March 16, the prime minister used her constitutional powers to announce that the bill would be passed without a vote in the National Assembly, sparking a new wave of protests.
