BEIJING, April 10. /TASS/. The Chinese armed forces have completed their military drills around the island of Taiwan on Monday, Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), said.
"The Chinese People's Liberation Army has successfully completed its patrol and the Joint Sword drills around Taiwan, which took place on April 8-10," he said in a statement published on the WeChat social media platform.
According to the statement, Chinese forces demonstrated their interoperability capabilities between various types of troops in a real military conflict.
"The Eastern Theater Command is ready for combat and is capable of fighting at any time," the statement said.
Shi specified that the PLA "will resolutely hamper the plans of separatists seeking so-called independence for Taiwan, as well as any external forces attempting to interfere.".
