China, France committed to resolving situation around Iran's nuclear program

China and France are committed to a diplomatic solution to the situation around Iran's nuclear program, according to the two countries’ joint statement posted on Friday on the Elysee Palace’s website following talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
"The signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015 was an important achievement of multilateral diplomacy. France and China reaffirm their commitment to promoting a political and diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue," the statement said. Beijing and Paris "reiterate their commitment to maintaining the international nuclear nonproliferation regime," without questioning "the authority and effectiveness of UN Security Council resolutions," the document pointed out.
