Russian foreign policy goal of supporting allies is important for Transnistria — MFA
The foreign minister of the breakaway republic expressed concern in his speech about the militarization of Moldova and its policy of breaking off ties with Russia
CHISINAU, April 6. /TASS/. Transnistrian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev on Thursday said it’s important that the Russian Foreign Policy Concept has a clause on supporting the security of allies.
He made the statement at a virtual round-table discussion entitled The Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue for the Preservation of Peace and Stability on the Banks of the Dniester, which was organized by the Russian Federation Council.
The foreign minister of the breakaway republic expressed concern in his speech about the militarization of Moldova and its policy of breaking off ties with Russia.
"In this context, we consider the changes at the doctrinal level related to the adoption of the new Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation to be timely. We believe that of special importance is the clause about Russia providing support to its allies and partners in promoting shared interests, ensuring their security and sustainable development, regardless of whether they receive international recognition," the minister said.
He said that "the strategic position of Transnistria is deteriorating under the influence of a number of destructive factors that tend to exacerbate. These circumstances require Russia and Transnistria to adopt a coordinated strategic policy."
Ignatyev called attention to "the terrorist threat associated with attempts to organize terrorist attacks against the leadership and residents of the republic, as well as the OSCE delegation," "the degradation of the negotiation process, which has gotten out of hand in 2022-2023." He expressed concern that the Moldovan leadership ignores proposals to resume negotiations both among its leaders and in the "five plus two" format (Moldova, Transnistria, the OSCE, Russia, Ukraine and observers from the United States and the EU), and refuses to implement previously signed agreements, increasing pressure on Transnistria.
