MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Renat Karchaa, an advisor to Rosenergoatom's CEO, has described an attempted attack against the Zaporozhye NPP with strike drone against the background of a meeting between IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi and Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev as a provocation characteristic of the Ukrainian armed forces.
"In my opinion, this (the fact that the provocation took place during Likhachev's meeting with Grossi - TASS) is not curious at all. It is typical and characteristic. I think it can," he said on the Rossiya-24 television channel on Thursday, while responding to a question about whether the drone attack could be regarded as Kiev’s provocation.
"The West has begun to feel quite distinctly (which is seen in their writings and TV broadcasts) great annoyance that despite the rabid schizophrenia that we are witnessing the cooperation between Russia and the International Atomic Energy Agency is developing," Karchaa added.
On Wednesday, Vladimir Rogov, the leader of the We are Together with Russia movement, said that Russian forces had shot down a Polish-made attack drone the Ukrainian armed forces had targeted at the plant. The drone was downed several hundred meters away from the ZNPP.
On April 5, Likhachev and Grossi met in Kaliningrad. Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, said the focus was on the ZNPP’s nuclear and physical safety.
