BEIJING, April 6. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities and the French government will support each other and jointly help optimize global governance, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday.

"We just had a friendly and thorough meeting," he said at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing, "We agreed <...> that China and France will support each other, as well as tohelp improve the [system of] global governance."

According to the Chinese leader, Beijing and Paris need to continue to jointly promote a multipolar world order and the democratization of international relations. "We must oppose Cold War thinking and block confrontation, to jointly counter all kinds of global challenges," he added.
