BEIJING, April 6. /TASS/. China has warned the United States and Taiwan of "strong and resolute measures" is response to their wrong actions.

"In response to the wrong acts of concert between the United States and Taiwan, China will take resolute and strong measures to defend its state sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

China calls on the United States to immediately "stop raising the level of relations with Taiwan, stop creating factors of tension in the Taiwan Strait, stop attempts of containing China by means of Taiwan and stop following the wrong path," the ministry stressed.

Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday met with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, who is transiting through the United States. After the meeting, McCarthy called for continuing selling weapons to Taiwan. According to the Associated Press, it was the first meeting between a house speaker and the Taiwanese president on American soil since 1979 when Washington severed diplomatic relations with the Taiwanese side.
