All the parties to the Ukraine conflict should show restraint, while the international community should create conditions for peace negotiations, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, said on Friday at a UN Security Council session.

"All the parties should remain rational, exercise restraint, avoid any escalation of tensions, and halt any actions that could result in further exacerbation of the crisis and may spark its spiraling out of control," he said. "The international community needs to immediately advocate for peace talks and to create conditions for their quick resumption."

Geng added that, "China will continue to play a constructive role in achieving a ceasefire and ending the conflict.".
