Turkey wants to organize Russia-Ukraine talks as soon as possible — Erdogan
At the same time, Recep Tayyip Erdogan reported that Ankara would like to resume meetings in Istanbul, where several rounds of talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations had been held
ANKARA, March 29. /TASS/. Turkey would like to organize talks between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible, the country’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday at a press conference following talks with his Hungarian counterpart Katalin Novak.
"We want to establish peace between Ukraine and Russia at the negotiating table," the Turkish head of state pointed out.
At the same time, Erdogan reported that Ankara would like to resume meetings in Istanbul, where several rounds of talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations had been held.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on January 11 that Russia had always been ready to settle issues at the negotiating table. However, Ukrainian laws forbid the president of the country from engaging in dialogue with the Kremlin, and the Western countries are unwilling to allow Kiev any flexibility. Peskov explained that in this context there were no prospects for talks with Ukraine.
