Assad’s wife sees good prospects for Syrian-Russian cultural cooperation
We are now in front of an opportunity for solidarity, intensifying efforts and exchanging expertise between Syria and Russia in the domains of culture, society and humanity, particularly as relations between the two countries are built on mutual respect and common principles, Asma Assad said
BEIRUT, March 28. /TASS/. There are good prospects for cultural, humanitarian and social cooperation between Syria and Russia, Syrian President Bashar Assad’s wife Asma Assad said on Tuesday, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
"We are now in front of an opportunity for solidarity, intensifying efforts and exchanging expertise between Syria and Russia in the domains of culture, society and humanity, particularly as relations between the two countries are built on mutual respect and common principles," Asma Assad said at a meeting with Russia’s delegation led by State Duma (the lower house of parliament) Deputy Speaker and Deputy Secretary of the United Russia party’s General Council Anna Kuznetsova.
Asma Assad emphasized the need for the public in Syria and Russia to jointly resist the West’s attempts to influence the youth. "Immunizing the youth by preserving the concepts of family, society and ethics in the face of liberal modern concepts, represented by the breakup of everything valuable, is the most important target for the free peoples," the Syrian president’s wife said, as cited by the news agency.
"Russia and Syria seek goodness and peace and our relations are based on friendship, dignity and mutual trust," Kuznetsova pointed out.
Earlier, the Russian delegation held a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of Syria’s ruling Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party Hilal al-Hilal, discussing inter-party dialogue and ways to boost interaction between the two countries’ lawmakers.
United Russia and the Ba'ath party, led by Syrian President Bashar Assad, signed a cooperation agreement in Damascus in 2018.
