Ukraine conflict pushes mankind towards world war, Hungarian PM warns

According to Viktor Orban, "the war has proved to be more brutal and merciless than it initially appeared"

BUDAPEST, March 10. /TASS/. Humanity has never been so close to World War III, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday.

"A year ago, we all hoped that the armed conflict [in Ukraine] would not turn into a real war," but this is what eventually happened, he told the Kossuth radio station.

According to Orban, "the war has proved to be more brutal and merciless than it initially appeared."

The Hungarian prime minister expressed concern that some of the European Union or NATO members that supported Ukraine would send troops to the country. "We have never been so close to a local war turning into a world war," he warned.
