Tiraspol prepares address to Kiev after thwarted terror attack — Foreign Minister
Vitaly Ignatyev noted that perspectives of the dialogue and stability depend on adequate actions of all parties of the process
MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. Transnistria is preparing an address to Ukraine and other participants of the "5+2" talks format in the wake of the thwarted assassination attempt against President Krasnoselsky, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev said Thursday.
"I think, we will address Ukraine with a call to provide all necessary information. Of course, we will also address the participants of the ‘5+2’ format process on the Transnistrian conflict, with a call to prevent an escalation of tensions and to do everything necessary to ensure peace and security. Ukraine is a party to the negotiations process," he said on Russian TV.
Ignatyev noted that, in this situation, perspectives of the dialogue and stability depend on adequate actions of all parties of the process. The Foreign Minister also noted that the situation around Transnistria is currently very tense as well.
"Last spring, we face an entire series of terror attacks against Transnistria, including the shooting at the building of the [Ministry of] State Security. This spring also brings unpleasant surprises, so we will take efforts to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. We see that, obviously, certain forces, our nearest neighbors are not interested in Transnistria having peace and stability. It is necessary to ramp up our work - not only of Transnistria, but of other partiers of the international settlement format as well - in order to prevent an escalation of the situation," Ignatyev noted.
Earlier on Thursday, the Ministry of State Security of Transnistria reported a thwarted terror attack, prepared under orders from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) against a number of Transnistrian officials. In particular, a bomb was supposed to detonate on the route of President Vadim Krasnoselsky’s motorcade.
