Sales of country’s first manga made with neural net use starts in Japan
The author of the Cyberpunk Momotaro shared impressions of the process of creating the manga with the aid of the neural network
TOKYO, March 9. /TASS/. Sales of the Cyberpunk Momotaro, the first Japan’s manga completely made with the use of the Midjourney neural network, kicked off on Thursday.
"I have absolutely no talent in drawing, that’s true. On the other side, manga creation does not require the painting skill alone," the manga author acting under the Rootport nickname told TASS. A manga creator needs skills of writing a good and an interesting story, making dialogs of characters and preparing a balanced layout of comics panels.
"When there was a boom of Midjourney’s popularity last August, I expected that many people appear that will attempt to draw a manga with use. However, contrary to my expectations, there are just several works at present that can be called Cyberpunk Momotaro’s followers. To all appearance, there are not too many people having the complete set of skills to create a manga," Rootport said.
The author of the Cyberpunk Momotaro shared impressions of the process of creating the manga with the aid of the neural network.
"The artificial intelligence does not always create an image expected by an individual. Several hundred images often had to be made with the use of the Midjourney in order to create just a single manga page. This is exactly why I had the feeling that I managed to achieve something greater when the image created was exactly as I wanted. This was a very interesting and joyful process," Rootport said.
