EU position on anti-Russian sanctions not shared by most countries — top Austrian diplomat
On August 26, 2022, Russian Prime Minister said that the West was seeking to blame Moscow for provoking a global food crisis, while being fully aware that the "current situation is a direct consequence" of its own actions
VIENNA, March 6. /TASS/. Europe’s position on anti-Russian sanctions finds no understanding among most of the nations of the world, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said on Monday.
"This is among the central issues we will be concerned with this year. The majority of countries do not share Europe’s point of view. <…> We in Europe must be aware that Russia’s narrative has been successful in Africa. They say that the West is to blame for rising prices for oil, gas, and food worldwide due to the [anti-Russian] sanctions," he commented in an interview with Austria’s Der Standard daily.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on August 26, 2022 that the West was seeking to blame Moscow for provoking a global food crisis, while being fully aware that the "current situation is a direct consequence" of its own actions. In his words, the illegitimate anti-Russian sanctions have aggravated negative global trends, where international financial and logistics companies and banks ceased to extend loans for, insure and service export deals for Russian foodstuffs and fertilizer, and port terminals abroad had been blocked.
