WASHINGTON, March 3. /TASS/. US Attorney General Merrick Garland traveled to Lvov in Ukraine on an unannounced visit on Friday to discuss holding to account those who have committed crimes during the conflict in that country, Reuters reported, citing a US Justice Department official.
"The attorney general held several meetings and reaffirmed our determination to hold Russia accountable for crimes committed in its <…> invasion against its sovereign neighbor," the official said, Reuters reported.
ABC television reported, citing sources, Garland visited Lvov at the invitation of the Ukrainian prosecutor general Andrey Kostin to attend a conference. The attorney general held several meetings in Lvov, the television channel said, without identifying the people he met.
Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra, who also attended the conference, announced setting up the Dialogue Group on Accountability for Ukraine.
US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen visited Ukraine on February 27. US President Joe Biden traveled to Kiev on February 20.
