UNITED NATIONS, March 2. /TASS/. The United Nations cannot verify the information about the Ukrainian attack in Russia’s Bryansk region, the spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said on Thursday.
"We have seen the allegations and comments from Russian authorities and Ukrainian authorities. We are not in the position to verify any of that information. I really can’t comment further on this point," he said.
On Thursday morning, Ukrainian saboteurs infiltrated the border area of Russia’s Bryansk Region, local Governor Alexander Bogomaz said. According to the latest information, two civilians were killed and a child was wounded in the assault. According to Russia’s Federal Security Service, which carried out a security operation together with troops from the Defense Ministry to eliminate the border violators, the situation is now under the control of law enforcement agencies and mine clearance work is underway. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who cancelled his planned trip to Pyatigorsk, called the incident an act of terrorism.
