BEIJING, March 1. /TASS/. Minsk condemns activities aimed at raising tensions around Taiwan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People's Congress Li Zhanshu on Wednesday.

"We condemn activities aimed at escalating tensions around Taiwan. Belarus has always followed the One-China principle, calling for a peaceful solution and strongly opposing foreign interference in China’s internal affairs," Lukashenko said, as cited by the BelTA news agency.

According to him, Minsk has been and will continue supporting Beijing on all sensitive issues, including "Xinjiang, the South China Sea, Hong Kong and Taiwan." "We highly appreciate close strategic cooperation with your country on the international stage. Our countries have always supported each other on key issues on the global agenda," the Belarusian leader noted.

Lukashenko emphasized that ties between lawmakers were a significant factor in Belarusian-Chinese relations. He noted that the plan to turn the parliamentary Friendship Group into a high-level interparliamentary commission would boost efforts to strengthen and enhance cooperation. "We are interested in organizing reciprocal visits at the parliamentary level and you are always welcome in Minsk," the Belarusian president said.

Lukashenko is on a state visit to China from February 28 to March 2.
