MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of Nigeria’s ruling party All Progressives Congress, has been declared the winner of the February 25 election, the Naija News newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the commission, former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), came second and Labor Party candidate Peter Obi was third.

There were a total of 18 presidential candidates but incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari did not take part in the race.

The country’s opposition said on Tuesday that the election had been compromised, demanding a fresh vote and the resignation of the INEC chief.
