NATO chief points to ongoing discussion of aircraft supplies to Ukraine
"So my top priority is to ensure that the pledges Allies have made for infantry fighting vehicles, for armor, for battle tanks," Jens Stoltenberg said
BRUSSELS, February 14. /TASS/. Discussions are underway on aircraft supplies to Kiev but NATO is currently focused on providing the country with tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and ammunition, the bloc’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday.
"There's a constant conversation, consultation process, within the Alliance on what types of weapon systems we should deliver. And as you have seen from the media, there is now a discussion going on also on the question of aircraft," he pointed out at a press conference ahead of a NATO defense ministers meeting.
"Whatever the opinion may be about aircraft, that will take time. What is needed now is urgent support for Ukraine. So my top priority is to ensure that the pledges Allies have made for infantry fighting vehicles, for armor, for battle tanks," Stoltenberg added.
