BRUSSELS, February 13. /TASS/. NATO defense ministers will discuss the situation in the defense industries of member states and protection of critical underwater infrastructure when they gather for a meeting in Brussels on February 14-15, the alliance’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday.

"Ministers will also focus on ways to increase our defense industrial capacity and replenish stockpiles," he said.

In addition, he said the ministers plan to establish a new coordination cell at NATO headquarters, which will deal with countering threats to critical infrastructure, including undersea cables and pipelines.

"This will support our efforts to prevent and counter threats to critical infrastructure, including undersea cables and pipelines," he said.

The secretary general also said the allies could agree to establish a new virtual network of military and commercial satellites for intelligence gathering purposes. That would support NATO missions and improve intelligence, he said.

The ministers, according to Stoltenberg, will also discuss investments in defense and ways to increase defense spending.
