CHISINAU, February 10. /TASS/. The Moldovan Defense Ministry detected a violation of the country’s airspace on Friday, Alla Diaconu, a ministry spokeswoman, told TASS.

"The ministry’s relevant departments detected a missile at 10:18 am local time that transited the airspace of the Republic of Moldova over the village of Mocra in the Transdniestria region and then over the village of Cosauti <…> and headed toward Ukraine. The Defense Ministry has teamed up with the country’s other relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation in the region and strongly condemns the violation of the republic’s airspace," she said.

In October last year, Moldova accused Russia of violating the country's airspace with missiles that had been fired at targets in Ukraine from warships in the Black Sea. In addition, there were reports that fragments of missiles fired with a S-300 anti-aircraft missile system fell in the country.

After a fragment of one of the missiles was found on December 5, Moldova issued a protest to the Russian ambassador to the country, Oleg Vasnetsov, and expelled an embassy employee.
