Death toll from earthquake in Syria up to 1,262 — Health Ministry
An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 hit Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province on Monday morning

CAIRO, February 8. /TASS/. The death toll from the February 6 earthquake in Syria has been up to 1,262, and another 2,285 were injured, the Health Ministry said on its page on Facebook (banned in Russia, belongs to Meta corporation outlawed as extremist in Russia).
"The death toll from the earthquake has risen to 1,262, with 2,285 people injured," Health Minister Hassan al-Ghabbash is quoted as saying. He believes "this is not the final number" of those dead and injured.
On Tuesday, the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Societies issued a statement saying that more than 1,500 died and more than others 3,500 were injured as a result of the earthquake in Syria.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 hit Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province on Monday morning. Sometime later, a new powerful tremor followed. According to the latest statistics, more than 7,000 were killed and more than 38,000 were injured in Turkey. In Syria, the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Tartus and Hama, located in the west and northwest of the country, were the worst hit.
