'West's biggest political mistake': Serbian president on plans to send tanks to Ukraine
Kiev expects to receive the first batch of up to 140 tanks from 12 countries
BELGRADE, February 3. /TASS/. The West’s plans to supply Ukraine with German tanks have united Russian citizens, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday.
"The West’s biggest mistake is that they have announced supplies of tanks, especially terrific German-made tanks. But they have only rallied the Russian nation. It is the West’s biggest political mistake because they have united the Russians in the span of one day," he said.
On January 25, the United States announced its plans to supply 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kiev, while the German government confirmed its intention to send 14 Leopard 2 tanks from its own reserves and to allow re-export from other countries. According to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, the Leopard tanks will be sent to Ukraine by the end of March. Plans to send tanks to Ukraine were also announced by the United Kingdom, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, and France.
