NATO’s involvement in Ukraine may result in WW3 — Le Pen
The head of the largest opposition faction noted that she was not opposed to the supply of defensive weapons, but called for asking "a question about the further escalation of the conflict, the consequences of which are unknown"
PARIS, January 31. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine is fraught with the risk of escalating into a third world war, if NATO’s full involvement becomes a reality, the leader of the parliamentary faction of France’s National Rally party, Marine Le Pen, said during a debate on the situation in Ukraine in the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) on Tuesday.
"The gradual supplies of offensive weapons can turn this conflict into a hundred-year war. NATO’s total involvement [in the conflict] for the sake of a hypothetical victory for Ukraine will lead to a third world war," she said.
The head of the largest opposition faction noted that she was not opposed to the supply of defensive weapons, but called for asking "a question about the further escalation of the conflict, the consequences of which are unknown."
"The continuation of this conflict may forever change the balance of power in the world," Le Pen stressed. She added that this conflict had already led to the severing of ties between Europe and Russia, which had become a privileged partner of India and China.
"From this moment on, it is necessary to start laying the foundation for peace. Therefore, Madam Prime Minister, I solemnly address you with this appeal: for President [Emmanuel Macron] to be heard by the world, and in order to preserve hope, it is necessary to organize a big conference for all parties [to the conflict] for the sake of peace," Le Pen said.
